Who are we!

An organization dedicated to safeguarding the cultural and historical heritage of Nineveh and Iraq has taken on its ethical responsibility. Drawing inspiration from the city's rich legacy of civilization, thought, and human accomplishments, this institution endeavors to ensure that its mission resonates with the profound essence that defines the history and heritage of Nineveh.

Establishment

An idea emerged from the aftermath of the harrowing period that the city of Mosul endured in 2017, akin to emerging from a dark tunnel. This period marked the second-longest war in modern history, spanning 196 days of relentless battles against extremist organizations. As a consequence of this war, Mosul suffered the loss of numerous archaeological and heritage sites, a deliberate attempt to erase the city's identity and the connection of its people to their roots. Initially introduced as a social media platform, the idea aimed to document Mosul and its rich heritage. Through various events and activities, this initiative ultimately evolved into the establishment of the "Mosul Heritage" Foundation. Comprising dedicated young volunteers and a team of experts specializing in cultural, heritage, and developmental programs, this endeavor sought to address the cumulative neglect suffered by Mosul's heritage. This neglect had been overlooked and overshadowed by other priorities following the city's liberation and subsequent restoration efforts.
